Any way to 'Install Software Updates' in Media Task Sequence? Patchm00 replied to patchm00's topic in Configuration Manager 2012 Well, we do this when we have a large deployment and we can duplicate the prestaged hard drive to the new computer hard drives, but doing it for one computer a day for instance is not as feasiable in my opinion.
Install Software Updates Task Sequence Unknown Computers In My Network Address
I deploy our systems using SCCM. However, WSUS is run by another department, and I can't set up one of our own (non-negotiable). This means that I can't tie SCCM into WSUS, and it means that after operating system deployment, they systems are well behind in updates, and it gets worse as time goes on, requiring more and more reboots and hard drive thrashing.
What I'm looking for is a program or script that can run at the end of my deployments and install Windows Updates from a specific WSUS.
I've played around with some of the scripts from MDT2010 (ZTIWindowsUpdate.zsf) but I am relatively useless at VBscript, so I can't figure out how I would pass it the argument of the WSUS address. Nor am I sure how it would interact with SCCM in terms of rebooting (the SCCM options do not seem to cover 'let the program reboot whenever it wants')
Ideas?
